Surveying services require many tools and equipment in order to get the job done. These tools help in measurement and understanding of land, determining distance, boundary delineation and other services that the surveying team provides. If you are wondering what equipment is used in construction surveying services, then this blog will definitely help you.

When we talk about surveying, it isn’t something that can be done in minutes but it might take hours or even days to complete a detailed survey of land. The surveying of site will give the owner of land an accurate measurement of land in every angle, mapping and boundaries that are going to help the builder or owner to plan effectively about the construction of their project and to design in a way that it won’t get shadowed by other buildings, projects or surroundings in the future.

Here are some tools that are used by the team of construction surveying services to fulfill their job:

  • Total Station

Total station is a very useful device for the surveying team. The device contains a microprocessor, storage system and an electronic data collector. The reason behind its usefulness is that it helps in measuring any kind of sloping distance from the instrument to the object alongside both vertical and horizontal angles. Once the measurement is done, the microprocessor then does the work of calculating and computing data in order to obtain precise coordinates of the point and horizontal distance. The data obtained from the station can be uploaded into the computer for processing and understanding the data more clearly. Total stations help in topographic surveying of a place and to make the job of mapping and boundaries easier and accurate.

  • Auto Level/Dumpy Level

This leveling instrument is a kind of optical tool that helps in identifying the existing points in the same horizontal plane of land. The tool helps the team in measurement and verification of heights of the structure or if there is any kind of difference in the height to alter and set it in the most effective way.

  • Theodolite

Although the origin of this instrument is quite unclear, this tool is still considered very valuable by the majority of architects and surveyors because of its uses. Any type of vertical or horizontal angles during construction or land surveying can be measured through this tool precisely. The main purpose of this tool is to survey different kinds of stuff and determine the two kinds of angles precisely and to help the surveyors in obtaining the most accurate data possible for generating a better plan for the owner of land or the builder. Today’s theodolite is equipped with an adjustable telescope between the couple of perpendicular axes and once the operator points the telescope in the direction of the target, it will calculate and provide the axes accurately.

  • Other tools

Surveying team don’t just have advanced equipment but they also have tools like measuring tapes, offset rods, different kind of square, measuring wheel, trough compass, distance meter, bipod, surveyor’s compass, plumbing fork, surveying chains and other tools that helps them in one way or the other to get the most out of the survey.
