Climate change is one of the greatest challenges of the 21st century globally, impacting ecosystems, economies and communities all over the world. Climate change can be conceptualised as an increase in temperature and extreme weather events; however, understanding the causes and impacts of climate change depends greatly on the geographical location.

Geography can provide explanations for the variation in the impact of climate change on various regions and natural and human systems interactions with the environment. Linking geography to climate change is fundamental in creating solutions to this problem and planning for future environmental issues.

Geography is the study of the physical features, environments and human activities of the earth. It explores interactions between humans and their environment, and the effects of natural systems on human life.
